The exhibit halls and outdoor spaces in the new facility to open in 2026 will be rich with artifacts . These artifacts and experiences will cover all periods in Minnesota’s military history - from Native American and early Fort Snelling stories to donated diaries and uniforms to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Cold War submarine to video interviews of Minnesota’s newest veterans who served in Afghanistan and Iraq. Docents, highly trained in the Museum’s collections, will provide an age appropriate overview of the museum and work with teachers to tailor individual field trip experiences.
